Zovirax Cold Sore Cream is indicated in adults and children for the treatment of cold sore which is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Directions:
You should apply the cream as soon as a cold sore is felt.
Adults and Children:Apply five times a day at four hourly intervals for five days.
If healing is not complete after five days, the treatment can be continued for up to five days more.

ZOVIRAX COST COLD SORE CREAMZovirax Suspension is used to treat viral infections. It plays a vital role in treating cold sores (an inflamed blister in or near the mouth, caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus), genital herpes (a common sexually transmitted infection marked by genital pain and sores), and herpes zoster (a viral infection that causes a painful rash). In addition to this, it is also used to treat chickenpox. Zovirax Suspension does not cure herpes but does not allow the infection to spread and treat its symptoms.
Zovirax Suspension contains Aciclovir, which is an antiviral medication. Zovirax Suspension prevents the multiplication of viruses in human cells by acting on their DNA, resulting in decreased viral overload.
Zovirax Suspension is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition. In some cases, you may experience headaches, feeling dizzy, feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting), diarrhoea, rash, and skin sensitivity to sunlight. Most of these side effects of Zovirax Suspension are temporary, do not require medical attention, and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Take Zovirax Suspension only if the doctor prescribes you. Never encourage self-medication or suggest your medicine to someone else. Do not take Zovirax Suspension if you are allergic to Zovirax Suspension, aciclovir, or any of its ingredients. Check with your doctor if you're pregnant, currently breastfeeding, or taking any other prescribed or non-prescribed medicines. Use protection while having sexual intercourse to avoid the transfer of genital herpes (a sexually transmitted disease) to your partner. If you have a weak immune system, please inform your doctor before taking Zovirax Suspension as a dose adjustment may be required.
How to take Zovirax Suspension : This medication is usually taken once daily, in the morning, or on an as-needed basis, preferably on an empty stomach, depending on your needs. Do not take Zovirax Suspension on an empty stomach, unless you are taking this medication for the first time. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose if you are taking this medication for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor. A lower dose, preferably one tablet a day, may be given, if you are not taking this medication within 7 days of symptoms appearing, including swollen glands, fever, and an appearance of an ulcer. If you are taking this medication for a longer time than 6 days, contact your doctor as soon as possible. If your symptoms do not improve after a few days of taking Zovirax Suspension, you may need a dose of Zovirax Suspension for a longer time than 6 days.How long does it take for Zovirax Suspension to work? Zovirax Suspension is normally only after a few hours. However, if you are taking it for a longer duration, you may notice that the medicine starts working within 30-60 minutes and the dose may be increased to 100 mg a day. However, if this best aligns you with your condition, your doctor will decide the duration as advised by your doctor. Sometimes, the medicine can take up to 4 weeks to reach its full strength (caused by organ transplants, where a kidney or heart failure may occur), and then to develop its own side effects. If you experience severe symptoms, contact your doctor as soon as possible. In some cases, more than 4 weeks may elapse, if your symptoms persist, or if you are not eating or drinking regularly. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Use protection while taking Zovirax Suspension to prevent transmission of genital herpes to your partner. If you become sick (nausea), vomiting, diarrhoea, and skin sensitivity to sunlight, call your doctor as soon as you can, but do not take for longer than recommended. If you experience any severe symptoms, please consult your doctor, especially if you are a rash or an ulcer. Contact your doctor as soon as possible if you experience an outbreak that doesn't spread, such as fever, skin sensitivity to sunlight, genital pain, or swelling. If you experience worsening side effects, like not completing non-essential tasks, you may receive treatment only by your doctor.

Zovirax Cream 10g is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity.
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Zovirax Cream 10g, which give rise to further complications include Rises in blood urea and creatinine, Encephalopathy, Seizures, Acute renal failure, Renal tubular obstruction. Zovirax Cream 10g produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Coma. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Zovirax Cream 10g therapy. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Zovirax Cream 10g are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Nausea, Vomiting, Anorexia, Severe local inflammatory reactions, Tremors, Abdominal pain, Skin rashes, Confusion, Erythema, Lethargy, Itching, Hallucination, Malaise, Elevation of liver enzymes, Contact dermatitis, Agitation, Stinging on application, Crystalluria, Transient burning, Reaction at injection site, Confusion, Skin rashes.
This medication should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation. Topical preparation (e.g cream) is not recommended for application to mucous membranes, particular care should be taken to avoid accidental introduction into the eyes.
